I hope to encourage people to become responsible for their environment (internal and external), to explore and understand our culture and the sub-cultures within. How does the actions of our ruling corporations, government operations, religions, fashion, banking and non-stop advertising impact on our body, our mind, and finally our community and then the world. What is real? Everything is presented in our face - up close. It's the lead story. There is no background only headlines. No horizon to judge from, or distance ourselves. Television has put the "correct" images in our lap. There's no panorama here. My paintings linger on moments. They are not edit in seconds. They are static if only momentary. A reference to the surface of life. Where do we store the truth? Where are the contracts? Nothing is permanent and we are part of it. The second law of thermodynamics: chaos increases spontaneously. What are we leaving for future generations? What do we have for ourselves? We have a window of visibility - it is the spectrum of colors. That wavelength where everything becomes visible to us. It is our border. It confines us to a specific frame of reference. This is why I choose to paint. Color arrives in our retina from the reflection and the excitement of pigment suspended in a medium or is it a large?
